Welcome to my writer's page!
Thanks for stopping by.
Poetry, music, fiction, or non-fiction, I write and enjoy them all; if you also write (or read) any of those, we're a good fit for becoming friends!
One of my favorite things to do is to encourage others in their creative writing. (In fact, I enjoy encouraging other writers even more than my cat loves celery.) If you need some encouragement or have a question about writing, send me an email at contact at katmcmullen.com.
One of my best friends, Natalie Hemmer, got first place, and I got second place! Click here to read our short stories. The theme was "Color Our World." (NB: Mine was not italicized when I submitted it. I'm not sure why they published it in italics.)
I'm excited to share that my cozy, character-driven sci fi is complete. I've been editing, writing a "One Sheet," and sketching cover ideas. It has been a long journey that could never have happened without the support of my friends! Big thanks to you all. Publication details to come as soon as my novel finds the best possible home.
No spoilers, but here's a hint at my next project: if you like cornball humor and have my Dad's taste (this is his favorite of my projects to date,) you're going to love this early 1960s musical screenplay...
This will possibly become a blog where I document the restoration of a 1978 Gold Edition Trans Am Firebird. However, we'll see.
One of the best things I did for my journey to publication was to join the American Christian Fiction Writer's Association. If you write Christian fiction, check them out at the ACFW homepage.
This bullet point will become a link to J.R.R.Tolkien's argument for the importance of speculative fiction (sci fi, fantasty, etc.) as soon as I can figure out how to link to a PDF from this webpage.
